This project represents another milestone for our city,” said Mayor Walker E. Reid. “Now that the much-needed improvements are completed, operational areas will be more efficient and will help employees continue to deliver excellent customer service.”

Forty years ago the Gastonia Municipal Operations Center (MOC) on the city’s northeast side, was a state-of-the art facility capable of handling the city’s service demands. Improvements were made to the employee ready rooms, Administrative Building, improved and expanded parking lot, and a new Electric Building was constructed.

  • Administrative Building – improvements to parking lot, ready rooms, a new 2,000 s.f. Multipurpose Training Room, additional restrooms, Customer Care Center, and modernized office space.
  • New Electric Building – 20,000 s.f. building to accommodate office/crew space, vehicles, and storage; 86 parking spaces; and 7,000 s.f. covered open air storage shed (to be completed December 2023).

“We are excited to see this project completed. This newly-renovated campus is more than just buildings, this facility represents a significant step forward for the community to ensure that the City of Gastonia continues to offer exceptional service to its customers and the people of Gastonia,” said Tim Bender, Project Executive for EDIFICE. “The enhancements also complement the local neighborhood and the vicinity of the buildings nearby, serving as a genuine testament to Gastonia’s commitment to advancing this wonderful city.”
