Gastonia, NC – (November 20, 2023) – City of Gastonia administrative offices will be closed Thursday, November 23 and Friday, November 24 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
City services and venues that will be affected by the Thanksgiving Day holiday:
Solid Waste
- No curbside collection of garbage, leaves, or yard waste on Thanksgiving Day.
- Thursday customers will have garbage collected on Friday, November 24.
- Friday customers will have garbage collected on Monday, November 27.
- Monday garbage collection will take place as scheduled.
- No excess household trash, yard waste carts, loose yard waste or leaves will be collected on Friday, November 24 and on Monday, November 27.

Transit
- No City bus service on Thanksgiving Day.
- Buses will run on a Saturday schedule on Friday, November 24.
The Schiele Museum of Natural History
- Closed Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 23
- Open 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Friday, November 24
- Open 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 25
- Open 1 – 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 26
Parks and Recreation
- Community Centers will be closed November 23 through 26.
- Skeet & Trap will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.
- City parks will be open during regular hours.
