The first City Employees Golf Tournament was held Nov. 8. “It was a great time for everyone,” said Cam Carpenter, director of Parks and Recreation. “We hope to make this an annual event for a good program.” It raised $1,077 for Keep Gastonia Beautiful, which offers educational and volunteer programs, tree plantings, beautification efforts, and compost sales.
One of the golfers was Assistant City Manager Quentin McPhatter. “My photos look better than I played,” he joked.
The members of the winning team all work for Police, and their score was 16 under par:
- B.W. Atkins
- C.J. Bain
- M.A. Lewis
- J.D. Wood
Ray Miller of Public Utilities/Electric was closest to the pin, at 6 feet, 5 inches from the hole. He is shown in the second photo below.
A big thanks to all of the volunteers who helped make the event a success!
