City of Gastonia administrative offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 21 for the Martin Luther King holiday.

Monday’s garbage and orange-week recycling pickup will be delayed until Tuesday. Residents can download the personalized WasteWise app for information about changes to solid waste pickup schedules throughout the year because of holidays, bad weather or mechanical problems. On Jan. 21, City transit buses will run on a Saturday schedule. The Schiele Museum will be open normal hours.

City community centers will be closed Monday except for one special event: The Gaston County NAACP will host a celebration of Dr. King’s life at 3 p.m. Jan. 21 at the Erwin Community Center. In addition, the City’s T. Jeffers Center will be the site of the Community Civil Rights and Justice Forum at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12.
