The City of Gastonia has begun a new program to help residents who are in need of assistance paying for housing. The program is available to those who qualify for financial support through the Emergency Rental Payment Assistance Program.
“This program provides financial assistance to those who may need help paying their rent due to unforeseen circumstances from the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Tyler Davis, Gastonia’s Neighborhood Program Administrator. “We realize there are some residents who are in need of assistance and we want them to know we can help.”
The program will be administered by the Salvation Army of Gaston County with grant funding provided through the City of Gastonia.
In order to qualify for assistance, the following guidelines must be met:
- Must reside within the Gastonia city limits.
- Must have been financially impacted due to loss of income as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Must qualify as a Low to Moderate Income Household based on Area Median Income as set by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Qualified residents can use this form to apply.
