The Rev. Stephen Brackeen will serve as guest speaker during the Gaston County Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Service held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, at the Catawba Heights Baptist Church, 311 Belmont-Mt. Holly Road, Belmont. The countywide event is hosted by the Mount Holly Police Department.
“Prior to the service there will be a breakfast for officers and their families,” said Mount Holly Police Chief Don Roper. “Following the service there will be an escorted procession to Gaston Memorial Park and a ceremony at the Law Enforcement Officers memorial at the cemetery.”
“This is a time to honor those officers that gave their lives in the line of duty,” Gastonia Police Chief Rob Helton said.
The Rev. Brackeen is a pastor at Bethel Baptist Church in Shelby, and the brother of slain Shelby Police Officer Tim Brackeen. The public is invited to attend the service at the church and the ceremony at the cemetery.
