A ruptured water main along New Hope Road has interrupted water service to Eastridge Mall and its food court, as well as numerous businesses, restaurants and homes near the mall.
Officials from Two Rivers Utilities say emergency repairs started around 8 this morning in the 300 block of North New Hope Road. Crews shut off water to the area to pinpoint the section of pipe that is damaged and to make repairs. Work may take until 6 p.m. today.
Affected customers have been notified through the City’s phone, text and email service. City utilities officials have also been in direct contact with management at the mall.
The City has experienced more than a dozen water main breaks in the past week, caused when abrupt temperature changes cause the soil to shift. Crews often work long hours to isolate the problem and repair the pipe.
