Art Downtown event features works by local high school students

Center City Park in Downtown Gastonia

The public is invited to see artworks by high school students at Art Downtown, an event to be held 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 12 at Butler Studio, 171 W. Main Ave., Gastonia. Students from Ashbrook, Hunter Huss, Forestview and the Highland School of Technology will be honored for their artwork and one piece will be selected from each of the schools to be displayed for one year in the Gastonia Conference Center.

The event includes music from the York Chester Middle School Jazz Band in Center City Park and light refreshments. The artwork also will be on display in the South Street Pedestrian Plaza for the 2019 Community Foundation Run on April 13 at the Rotary Pavilion.

“We want to provide recognition to our local high school artists for their artistic talent and to encourage them to pursue all that inspires them,” said Gastonia City Councilman James Gallagher.
