City of Gastonia announces closings, schedule changes for Christmas and New Year’s

Christmas and New Year’s Day will affect office hours and services provided by the City of Gastonia. City administrative offices will be closed Monday, Dec. 24, Tuesday, Dec. 25 and Tuesday, Jan. 1.

Solid Waste:

  • No collection Tuesday, Dec. 25
  • On Wednesday, Dec. 26, garbage and orange-week recycling will be collected for Tuesday and Wednesday customers
  • No collection Tuesday, Jan 1
  • On Wednesday, Jan. 2, garbage and green-week recycling will be collected for Tuesday and Wednesday customers
  • January’s curbside yard waste pickup, including live Christmas trees, will occur on customers’ regular pickup day Jan. 7-11. Artificial Christmas trees are household trash, not yard waste.

Transit:

  • Buses will run a Saturday schedule Monday, Dec. 24
  • No transit service Tuesday, Dec. 25 and Tuesday, Jan 1

Parks and Recreation:

  • Community Centers and administrative offices closed Dec. 22-25
  • Community Centers will close at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31 and will be closed Jan 1.
  • Skeet and Trap Range closed Dec. 24 and 25 and Jan. 1
  • Parks will be open regular hours during the holidays

Schiele Museum:

  • Closed Dec. 24 and 25
  • Regular hours Jan. 1

Special holiday planetarium shows Dec. 26-30: “Season of Light” at 6 p.m. and “Let it Snow” at 7 p.m.
